Interspecies Journey
FILM FOOTAGE
The framework that forms the dramatic skeleton for Interspecies Journey are dynamic clips from the documentary film, IMPRINTED. Shot during 2021, cinematographer Stefan Morel captures the intense physical listening the dancers practice in their dances with horses.
IMPRINTED follows Equus dancers as they train with two pregnant mares, witness the miraculous birth of their foals and explore kinetic dialogues with the newborn horses.
The footage captures the sense of curiosity and play between human and equine as well as the serious horsemanship training that underlies the dancers' movement choices.
